Remedy Place: Where Everybody Knows Your Name—And Maybe Your Biomarkers

In the midst of a global pandemic, this wellness club might just be the answer to your quarantine-induced woes.
Remedy Place: Where Everybody Knows Your Name—And Maybe Your Biomarkers
In a world full of problems, any and all solutions are welcome—especially when they involve a hangover-free buzz. Remedy Place, a one-stop wellness shop located in West Hollywood, CA, was created by Dr. Jonathan Leary as both an escape and a health-centric social club. Needless to say, COVID-19 quickly put the kibosh on mingling and business meetings, but solo endeavors, such as a healing session in a hyperbaric chamber or a vitamin-infused IV drip, feel more relevant now more than ever.

“People have no idea how to take care of themselves and I feel as though we really need to be independent and proactive,” explains Dr. Leary. The key to taking charge of your health, he says, is education, which is where Remedy Place comes into play. After using a variety of tools to treat his ever-expanding roster of A-list patients (including professional athletes, actors, and CEOs), Dr. Leary kept returning to a business plan he dreamed up while earning his doctorate in chiropractic and alternative medicine.

“I kept asking myself, ‘Why am I just treating the healthiest bodies in the world when the average person is in a lot more pain and they don’t even go to the doctor?’” says Dr. Leary. He also noticed the public’s attitude shifting toward functional medicine in that many people were interested in exploring more holistic options outside of traditional medications and surgery. “If you have a leaky pipe and you just keep mopping the floor, you're not fixing the pipe,” he explains. “You have to get to the root cause to truly fix things.” The ultimate goal of Remedy Place, adds Dr. Leary, is to “make it easier to understand what you need to do inside and outside of the club” to maintain optimal health. Housing everything from a walk-in cryo chamber to lymphatic massage lounges under one very chic roof just makes it more convenient to stay well.

Of course, these remedies—especially the movement element (which is a blend of chiropractic, physical, and Chinese medicine) and annual rebalance program, two of the most popular items on the menu—come at a fairly substantial price, but Dr. Leary is hoping that one day insurance companies will consider covering these wellness “experiences.” In the meantime, he sees these treatments as an “investment” in your health. “It’s about working smarter, not harder,” he adds.

If you (and your wallet) aren’t yet ready for a 360-degree analysis of your body’s major biomarkers, you can stick a toe in the proverbial waters via an ice bath class (the first of its kind) that incorporates breath work in addition to a three- to six-minute soak. “If you can handle going into 39-degree water and stay calm using controlled breathing… you can learn to adapt to any type of stress better,” he explains. If freezing temps aren’t your thing, consider sweating it out in an infrared sauna that is said to detoxify the body and speed up metabolism. Whichever remedy you choose, round out your visit with a non-alcohol spirit infused with vitamin B and caffeine for an instant “rush.” Another mood-boosting option: a plant-based tonic that blends kava root and kratom. “You take it and you’re instantly uplifted, everything is laser-focused, and you just feel incredibly happy,” says Dr. Leary. There’s never been a better time to start a tab.
